Books

Feb. 15, 2006 Bonnie Rice, formerly a teacher at the Hershey Middle School, will review How Green was my Valley by Richard Llewellyn.

March 15, 2006 Hershey Public Library Director Barbara Ellis will discuss the writings of Sue Monk Kidd, focusing on the parallels between her non-fiction work and her novels and the pervasive themes in both. Reading one of Kidd’s non-fiction works prior to the talk would be helpful. Kidd has written The Dance of the Dissident Daughter, When the Heart Waits, Secret Life of Bees and The Mermaid Chair.

April 19, 2006 Now a Hershey resident, formerly an English teacher in Tioga County, Helen George will review Flatlanders and Ridgerunners: Folktales from the Mountains of Northern Pennsylvania by James Glimm. A treat of a tale for anyone interested in rural American folklore.
