Our popular Read to a Bingo program challenges readers to play literary bingo. We supply the bingo card and suggestions for each category in the squares. Participants can read any book that fits the description in the square.
The library’s newest program is called What’s on the Menu. It challenges participants to read four books, selected from broad menu categories. Menu categories include Appetizers, from which you may choose a book of humor, a thriller or a gentle read; Main Entrees, including mysteries, literary fiction, memoirs, historical fiction; and International Cuisine, which includes works set outside the United States as well as those whose author belongs to an ethnicity other than your own. There are many other categories from which to choose. Participants have the freedom to choose what they read while trying to create a balanced menu.
Participants can earn extra raffle tickets by reading extra books. All of the details of each program are explained on the program card you receive. Audio books count too, and all ages are welcome to participate in either program.
To register and pick up your program card, go to the circulation desk anytime between January 2nd and March 31st. Completed program cards must be turned in by March 31st to be eligible for the raffle drawing.
Both programs are sponsored by Friends of Hershey Public Library.
