Each year The Association for Library to Children awards the John Newbery Medal to "to the author of the most distinguished contribution to American literature for children."  John Newbery was a British publisher, especially of children's books. Like the Caldecott Award, only one book is chosen to receive the Newbery medal but additional notable books are named Newbery Honor books.  Click here for the list of winners!

Each year The Association for Library Service for Children awards the Caldecott Medal to "the artist of the most distinguished picture book for children."  The award is named after Randolph Caldecott, a renowned illustrator of the 19th century.  Although only one book is selected each year to receive the Medal, several books are also given the Caldecott Honor distinction.  Click here for a list of Medal and Honor winners!
