Tuesday, September 30 2008, 7:00pm - 9:00pm Hits : 839
Food expert Mark Winne will discuss his new book Closing the Food Gap: Resetting the Table in the Land of Plenty on Tuesday, September 30, at 7:00 p.m. at the Hershey Public Library. Winne will address the tough topics surrounding food distribution, from the war on poverty to the new farmer’s market. Books will be available for sale and a book-signing will be held after the talk. A sampling of Pennsylvania-grown foods will be provided before the talk. For twenty-five years, Winne served as executive director of the Hartford Food System in Hartford, CT. He was an organizer and chairman of the Working Lands Alliance, a statewide coalition working to preserve Connecticut’s farmland, and is a founder of the Connecticut Farmland Trust. Winne was a member of the U.S. delegation to the 2000 World Conference on Food Security in Rome. The program, which is free and does not require registration, is co-sponsored by Friends of Hershey Public Library and the PA Hunger Action Center.
