"Treely" amazing! Philadelphia Handmade Paper Company will demonstrate the 2,000 year old craft of papermaking by forming sheets of linen paper. Wearing period costume and using 100% authentic tools, including a copper vat, Philadelphia Handmade Paper Company will transport you into scenes from the past centuries as well as into life in colonial America. Each student will experience the hands-on process of making a sheet of linen rag paper by using an 18th century antique laid wire mould. Philadelphia Handmade Paper Company staff will also discuss the environmental issues of recycling paper in the 21st century. The discussion will emphasize making paper without trees for the first 1,750 years of the craft and many ways we can "Go Green Now!" Program is limited to 40 children. |
