Learn a language for free!
What?
Thanks to a grant from Verizon, the Hershey Public Library now offers two iMac computers with free access to Tell Me More's language learning software. Tell Me More is an online personalized program for learning foreign languages. The Tell Me More system provides comprehensive lessons tailored to your skills to establish written and spoken language proficiency. Currently available languages are Spanish, Spanish (Latin American), Italian, German, French, English, and Dutch.
Where?
There are two Language and Literacy Workstations in the library. The first is in the Reference Section to the rear of the building. The second is in the Children's Department along the far left-hand wall. If you need help finding these workstations, please ask the library staff. Both computers have headphones with built-in microphone.
You can also log-in to Tell Me More's website on your personal computer, so you can continue your library-based study from home!
Who?
Any library patron who has a SAM account is welcome to use these in-library workstations for one hour per session up to three hours a day. There is no charge for a SAM account. If you want to set-up or confirm your SAM account (the same account that you use to access our public computers), please ask at the Circulation Desk.
How?
Head over to either workstation and log-in to the computer with your library card number and pin/password. Double-click the "Tell Me More" icon on the desktop to access the program. Follow the instructions provided. They will guide you through creating an account with your library card number, user name, and password. Once you have logged-in, click "Getting Started" for a complete set of instructions.
Reminder: The only acceptable use for these machines is language training; the computers are not equipped for Internet browsing or email.
To access Tell Me More from home, click here. You will need to log-in and run the configuration test. This will tell you whether or not your computer can use the program and guide you through installing the Auralog software.
